It's almost as if they had it ready to go and jumped at the opportunity to introduce it after the Isla Vista murders...which they keep calling a mass shooting. Somehow 2 people murdered with a gun now qualifies as a mass shooting?

There's a lot to the bill worth reading but this part stands out and it disturbs me to no end. This is ripe for abuse.

(a) The magistrate, before issuing the gun violence restraining order, may examine on oath, the person seeking the order and any witnesses the person produces, and shall take his or her affidavit or affidavits in writing, and cause the affidavit or affidavits to be subscribed by the parties making them.
(7) Evidence of recent acquisition of firearms or other deadly weapons.
