Travel thru Denver & CO in general

I'll be headiung back to ski country real soon. Although my permit is recognized in CO I've heard Denver is not to happy about permitted people who are armed.
Although I've never had a problem in CO and never pulled over, I'm wondering if the climate has changed since Aurora & Newton and perhaps Denver or CO troopers have become even more aggressive.
I plan to observe all traffic laws and never go faster than traffic is going. I will NOT open carry at any time.

in Colorado your DL and your CHL MUST be from the same state or it's not honored.

CO is one of the reasons I got my TX CHL instead of relying solely on my FL permit.

Other than the previously mentioned "must have DL from same state as CHL" I have not heard of any other issues or aggression from local LEOs. Can you elaborate?

I believe Denver has a municipal ordinance banning magazines over 20 rounds, but that's the only particular law I know off top of my head to watch out for.

That's the main exception to state preemption that I'm aware of.

We go to the Denver area (Lafayette, actually) every year. The one thing to remember is that any no gun sign has the force of law. If caught carrying, most businesses will just ask you to leave. There are a few, however, that will call LE. Then it's up to the officer to let you go with a waning or to give you a free ride to the station.

even when we lived there 5 years ago we usually left the guns in the car in Denver, mostly....depended on exactly which store we were at. If you're just driving thru D, don't worry, you'll be fine. As was said, in D, even a gun buster sign counts and if you choose to carry into a place that isn't signed....please keep it concealed!!!

This is incorrect. It has been discussed before because of the Aurora shooting and here is the first example I could find.

I know it's been discussed and I think it depends on where you go and what store. I work with a group that takes their aircraft to West Star Aviation in Grand Junction. One of the guys was escorted off property by LE and was told next time he enters while CC he would be arrested. After talking with other businesses in Grand Junction, most said that it was the owner choice to have a patron arrested if they had any notice of no guns allowed. The store owner told LE that he saw the IWB metal clips on his belt.

Agreed in most cases. In this case, the store owner called LE without asking the three guys to leave. Wanted the cops to handle it.

Thanks for the heads up. I will not do any business with West Star nor reccomend them to anyone.
There are plenty of other aircraft maintinace facilitys out there to choose from.
