Re: Oklahoma Open Carry becomes law
Between Oklahoma and Kansas they are just daring me to make the leap to OC out in public. The law won't go into effect for my next trip to Kansas, but will be for my Christmas trip. Then the only issue will be if it's too cold or raining.

Depends on how their law is written. Indiana issues a License To Carry that allows open or concealed carry, but if your out of state license only allows for concealed carry in your home state, that's all you're allowed to do in Indiana.

Yep I sure the hell am! Gotta say makes this nativetexan think about moving to OK! I am tired of watching those guys pass pro 2A legislation first while we have to do the Texas Two Step with our so called Pro Gun Legislators!seeker_two wrote:That OK can pass Open Carry but TX can't even get it up to discuss in the Legislature?....yep....why aren't you?....pbwalker wrote:seeker_two wrote:True...esp. in a truly conservative state that has a state rifle association that is NOT run by a CHL-Instructor mafia.....fickman wrote:It's amazing what can happen in a truly conservative state.

Re: Oklahoma Open Carry becomes law
Congrats to Oklahoma. Hopefully they'll be able to remove the license requirement to open carry someday.

Re: Oklahoma Open Carry becomes law
Well, OK does prohibit concealed carry and now open carry in all government buildings unlike Texas. Other than that everything seems pretty similar. The only thing I can't seem to find in this forum or anywhere else is what constitutes effective notice in Oklahoma. I couldn't find any mention of signs in their laws, so it seems like any ole sign is effective notice and there also doesn't seem to be any case law. Does anyone else know any more?

I can't seem to remember this one, so someone help me out please. Is it legal to open carry on YOUR OWN PROPERTY, or PROPERTY UNDER YOUR DIRECT CONTROL (such as a property you are renting/leasing) in the State of Texas? Yes, I know about "in a manner calculated to alarm". I'm not talking about walking down a street open carrying, but only on one's own property. (This was part of the bill that was signed into law in OK.)
Re: Oklahoma Open Carry becomes law
I was afraid of that. Do you know if there are any specifics on size or placement like Kansas? Kansas signs must be at least a certain size, I forget how big, but not little and must be at eye level. They don't specify an actual minimum height, but I'm guessing at least five feet off the ground since kids can't carry. Legally that is.sugar land dave wrote:Any no guns sign is effective notice for Oklahoma.
