Utah and Florida permits no longer recognized in Nevada

Just received this as an NRA-ILA alert. Nevada was the one reason I was considering either Utah or FL permit.
Effective, July 1, Nevada will no longer recognize Right-to-Carry permits from Utah orFlorida. They have, however, added Ohio and West Virginia as recognized states.

Each May, the Nevada Department of Public Safety conducts an audit of states and their Right-to-Carry laws for the purpose of determining which states it will recognize.

The Nevada DPS dropped Utah because it does not have a live fire requirement, which is a part of Nevada's training requirements. When the Nevada DPS first began its state by state audit of Right-to-Carry laws in 2007, DPS admitted to NRA representatives that they overlooked the live fire training requirement. After further review, they determined that Utah wasn't similar enough to keep it on the list of recognized states.

Florida will no longer be recognized because its permits are now valid for seven years instead of five.

The Nevada DPS and the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs will be hosting their annual Right-to-Carry forum in Carson City in August with a teleconference feed to Las Vegas. We encourage all members to attend this informational meeting. Details will be forthcoming.

Please continue checking your email and http://www.NRAILA.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for updates.

Oh well. I've been to Nevada on vacation but I won't go back until I can carry. With licenses in 4-5 different states, I give potential vacation spots a whole lot of opportunity to recognize at least one of my licenses, so I refuse to spend money where they deny my right to bear arms.

P.S. What's their excuse for still not recognizing Texas? Are our rules too strict?

I had read one time that they don't recognize Texas because you can get a Texas CHL at age 18 if you're active military, and Nevada requires 21.

I've often wondered why they just don't qualify it to say that Texas licensees must be 21 for reciprocity to be honored.

Too bad. Nevada was one reason I got my Utah permit. I guess I won't be visiting Vegas. :grumble

Idiot move by Nevada. They could easily recognize a Texas CHL, just as someone said, by qualifying it as being over 21. There are no other states that Nevada recognizes that offer non-resident permits, except Tennesse, and for all practical purposed they don't either. When I took my class for my Utah permit from Bill Slater years ago, I was required to shoot and I thought a practical WAS part of the Utah licence requirement. I believe a Utah license still gets you into WA, WV, WY and OH. Hopefully, soon we may be able to add Nebraska under a Texas CHL.

WA is still good to go for Utah CFP. However, I believe WV only accepts resident licenses.

Amazing.....an 18 year old can carry a weapon for our country but can't be licensed to carry one in Nevada.

Where's the logic there?

WIth a CHL aren't you required to follow the law of the state you are visiting....... with that if Nevada law says you must be 21 to have a CHL/CWP/CCH License.... doesnt the visiting CHL have to follow that law?
