Arizona Non-Resident CHL - Has anyone done this?

Technically, as I understand it, Arizona doesn't differentiate between a resident and non-resident CHL. I'm considering this since Ohio doesn't recognize my TX CHL and I will be traveling there in the next few months (most of my family is in Ohio so it would be useful for many years). Ohio recognizes the Arizona CHL and the cost seems to be the best deal at $60. Plus, they let you do it all by mail. They actually have a form online to request a packet. I requested it on Friday and received the envelope (including a self addressed return envelope) on Monday.

Has anyone done something similar from another state or actually obtained an Arizona CHL? I'm curious as to how you did the fingerprints. Thanks all

just as answer to the fingerprints... probably could go to local sheriff or police dept and get them done there and on fingerprint cards.... might cost a little... went to local sheriff here in county and had some done about 13 years ago for a job interview... cost 5 dollars then...

That used to be true. The states amended their reciprocity agreement and fixed it.

I have my AZ CCW license (no difference on the card between resident and non resident). All that you need to do it get the paperwork, get your prints (I did mine at the local police department for $20) mail everything back. It took less than 4 weeks for mine.

My reasons were:

#1> Nostalgic value- I was born there.

#2> Get Ohio reciprocity- I have family there.

#3> Gap protection between renewals.

#4> The ability to still carry if I lost my TX CHL.

I have Florida which covers me for Ohio (I go there about once a year for a few days.)

AZ is a good choice too. Nevada dropped them because of training supposedly.

I got a non-resident Utah CFP for the same reasons you're considering Arizona's.

Assuming the laws/rules don't change before then, I plan to get an AZ permit when my FL permit expires in 2016.
AZ is much less cost than FL, covers most of the same states and does not require additional training (accepts TX permit as evidence of training).

Back when I chose FL (and renewed it), FL had much better reciprocity than anyone else. Lots has changed in the 12 years since.

I keep my FL because I need it for FL (I don't live in Texas). Yeah, it's expensive to renew. More than AZ and others.

I went the AZ route simply because of the cost factor... I had my TX chl but let it expire a few years ago. Mainly because TX finally fixed the "traveling law" for having a handgun in your vehicle.
Sent my application off on Dec 5, and received the permit on Dec 19th.
Total cost $60 plus the stamps to mail...
All it requires is proof of training -- Sent in a copy of my TX Hunter safety certificate
Finger prints were free to me because my cousin is a local Deputy, but Fort Worth PD will do them for $20...

TX Chl-- $140
Class $60-80
range fee-$15-20

No brainer for me.
I will eventually get my TX CHL again for when we go to CO for vacations..

I want to go the AZ. route for a concealed carry license because it requires less time and expense
(lower fee,and they accept DD-214 as satisfaction of training requirement). I have my DD-214,but
not the "member-4 page". Does anyone know if Az. requires the member-4 page, or if they will
accept the DD-214,without the member-4 page? Any help will be appreciated.
