Was on the way back to Texas today and took the family to see "Duck Dynasty". Little one was Happy, Happy, Happy :anamatedbanana

I got the shock of my life when I was starting to go into the gift shop and saw a small type written page with various information and a "No Weapons Allowed" at the entrance.
If I had been thinking, I would have snapped a picture of the sign. The rest of the family was already in, so I had to make the miserable walk back to the car. Really came away disappointed. Still a big fan of the show, but I gotta wonder who thought this was a good idea. :headscratch

Yea - I would have called the family one their cell phones and told them to all come back outside.

That is very very disappointing.

Didn't I just see Willie's face in a gun advertisement in the latest NRA magazine? Hmm...I'll need to take another look.

More proof it's just an act for free publicity.

Nothing more disappointing than a supposed family of values selling out those values to please ignorant people.

Now that is a disappointment! I wonder if that is effective notice for LA?
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

Quick question for you - how many shops are there, does the family themselves run the day-to-day operations of the store, and is it possible the sign was posted by a well-meaning but ignorant (or not-so-well-meaning) employee?

I had a run-in with a local Wally World that posted the front doors with basic printed "no guns" signs, and called corporate. The signs were fairly quickly replaced with "No guns -except- those carried by LEO -and- CHL" type signs, posted due to New Mexico's liquor laws (concealed is fine in places selling booze, open is not, for some reason).

Give Duck Dynasty/Commander a chance to rectify this, or at least clarify whether this was some ignorant shift manager or a corporate policy-setter who posted it.

Well, hopefully they will rectify it. I don't personally care because I'm not a fan of the show anyways but I would hate to see that sign stay up if they truly care about firearms and our freedom.

I sent 'em a quick email asking for clarification. If/when I get a reply, I'll post it here.

That's weird because I've seen several episodes in which Willie is open-carrying a Glock.

Do “No Gun Signs” Have the Force of Law?

“YES”

From the Louisiana DPS Concealed Handgun Unit Web Page.

The provisions of R.S. 40:1379.3 (N) shall not limit the right of a property owner, lessee, or other lawful
custodian to prohibit or restrict access of those persons possessing a concealed handgun pursuant to a permit
issued under this Section. No individual to whom a concealed handgun permit is issued may carry such
concealed handgun into the private residence of another without first receiving the consent of that person.
So, a property owner, lessee, or other lawful custodian can put up a "no guns" sign, and that constitutes effective notice. Furthermore, you have to notify a home owner and receive permission from that home owner before you may legally carry into his home.

Glad I live in Texas.
