Military and CHL
Military and CHL
I am in the US Navy and move around from time to time. I am currently stationed in Maine. I am from texas, and I am in the process of getting my CHL in Maine and Texas. Can you tell me if there are any other Military friendly CHLS out there. IE no or reduced fees?

Are you looking for other states that have discounted pricing for military? If that is the case, maybe someone has a list but I would think you will need to visit each state to check. There are some states out there that have cheaper standard application fees than the Texas discounted fee for military.jojo6714 wrote:I am in the US Navy and move around from time to time. One of the best resources for all things CCW (from a legal standpoint) is http://www.handgunlaw.us/.
Click on the state you're interested in and another page will open that give you a summary of that state's info. There are also numerous links to other info, including that states own website.

Not sure if there are any naval bases or air stations in GA but they are extremely military friendly in regards to their CCW. Don't quote me but if I remember right, you could conceal carry with just a valid, current Military ID. I opted for a permit at the time simply for reciprocity and it was extremely cheap, $37 for the probate court clerk (Chatham County) and $6 for fingerprints at the Sheriff's office. Permits are issued by the varying county probate courts and each sets their own fee.jojo6714 wrote:I am in the US Navy and move around from time to time. I am currently stationed in Maine. Actually, I don't think any state has a fee that is cheaper than the $0 that Texas charges active military.RX8er wrote:Are you looking for other states that have discounted pricing for military? Yeah, free is nice. I lucked out in Maine and they only charged me for the resident permit. It was $35. I have my eyes on the AZ non resident permit now.
