Georgia

I found out today that the wife and I are moving to South Georgia in April for at least the next four years. I noticed where GA and TX has repriciocity. Just wondering if anyone has any experiance carrying there or if there are any major differences. Seems like I am just getting well versed in TX CHL laws (mainly thanks to this site), and I gotta switch horses. Thanks in advance.

Click on "GA"...

These are the big points, but probably not all you'll have to do to carry in Georgia...

And for that I tried to link some information on the Georgia requirements...But since PDO is down, and the state website is like trying to play a straight game of "CandyLand"...I could not find the procedures for obtaining a Georgia Concealed Weapons Permit...

Maybe someone else can find that, because it is not one I keep up with... ;-)

Lots of places are off limits in GA. Their CHL law needs a lot of improvement. I'm glad I live in TX.

Yep, not a lot of legislators shaking the tree there in that state...But they seem content about it though...

The "public gathering" prohibition is a big flaw in the Georgia law. It makes movie theaters, parades, rallies, meetings, etc., all off limits.

Yep, did some research, and looks like the only place I can carry is pretty much in a 5ft radius of my couch--unless there are people gathered there. Also, most of the threads are about open carry. Looks like a new adventure. I was hoping it would be the "promised CHL land" with laws that say you have to have at least two handguns on you at all times, everywhere you go--or random vehicle inspections require a minimum of .45 cal per person on board. Guess I have to deal with what I got.

Man, did some research and found out my active duty ID card stands in leiu of a GA CHL and you can even carry in MORE places than a standard CHL holder. Still ain't Texas, though. Thanks for the inputs.

Hey, when I moved to GA, I switched to GPDO. You can't stay here, man. You'll think hospitals have to post 51% signs and keep your eyes open for 30.06 postings when you really need to watch out for all the ridiculous places off-limits. ;)
