Going to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving

#1

Post by rytchard »

My brother has rented a cabin and we are spending Thanksgiving in Oklahoma. A couple of quick questions (and please don't quote law):

1. I will have my firearm in my car while driving there. It will be concealed, on me, and in a holster. Is this OK?
2. Open carry in Oklahoma? Is this OK?

Any other things I should know about?

Thanks much! :patriot:

OK is pretty close to TX as far as our laws go. You do need to inform an officer. There is no legally enforcable "no guns" sign, but you can be asked to leave just like here in TX. Don't carry in casinos, reservations, COE land, and don't carry in government buildings including: rest area buildings, state park buildings, and bars (think 51%, although I don't know if they post a sign for that - just don't carry if you are going to the bar!). A good resource is this forum and http://www.handgunlaw.us

Do you have a TX CHL?
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

Thanks all for the info! And to answer the last question, yes I have a CHL. It's not a very long drive, i.e. Fort Worth to Lake Texoma so I shouldn't be tempted to stop by any casinos! Ha! :tiphat:

Lake Texoma is COE land, so don't carry on the lake.
