The Remington LE web site http://www.remingtonle.com/rifles/7615.htm has a rifle, the 7615 Police pump action rifle, I'm interested in. I prefer to have similar operations between shotgun and rifle, and I like my 870. I could even do matching stocks and forearms. The issue there is whether to scope the 7615 or not, and the impact that has on the stock, and I can figure that out.

Is it legal for me to own this? (I would think so.) Is it hard for me to buy it at a gunstore, or order it online to be shipped to a local gun shop?

There is no firearm that is legal for the police but not for you and me. The only "issue" would be whether or not it is an NFA item requiring a tax stamp above and beyond the purchase price of the item. But everything is legal.

Looks like a 1954 production Remington 760 I gave my son except for all the plastic.

Yes, it is a development of the 7600, which replaced the 760. I just looked at a pawn shop 760 in 30-06. The 7600 is the base rifle model similar to the 870 shotgun. Remington came out a few years ago with the 7615 in .223 only as a carbine (16.5" barrel). An advantage to me of the 7615P over the 7600 is it uses standard AR-15 magazines, and comes standard with compact 10-round magazines.

I think the selling price should be similar to the 7600, in the $600-$650 range. I saw a post on another forum that Cabela's had them at one time.

For that kind of coin I couldn't see buying that over an AR or a Mini 14 if you want .223 or a lever gun in 45colt or 44mag if you needed more power.

It would be nice if a repeal of the Hughes Amendment could get "slipped" into some "important" piece of legislation...you know, one of those "we have to pass it to know what's in it" kind of bills!

I had one for a while probably 3 or 4 years back. They were easier to find then also. I remember it being real pickey on plastic mags, but the steel worked everytime.

If only they had thought of that for the Unaffordable Healthcare Act. That would have been awesome to wake up on 1.1.14 and discover that every anti gun legislation over the last 80 years had been abolished.
