Hello guys/gals,

I have an Magpul ASAP plate that I need installed on my Colt LE6920. I don't have the castle nut wrench so I haven't been able to install it myself. My question is, does anyone know who may be able to install these for me? The castle nut on this rifle is staked and I don't want to buy a castle nut wrench and break it trying to force the castle nut loose. Is there a gunsmith around the Dallas area that can do this for me? How much would this service cost?

Also, I went to the gun show in Dallas this past weekend and inquired about this while trying the buy a castle nut wrench. The guy I was talking to at one of the booths informed me that it would be best if I had someone install it for me since the install on the LE6920 is much harder than most.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I can't speak for the LE6920 specifically, but how much harder could it possibly be? Unless they red locatite that sucker on, I think you're just being given a dismissive answer. I have a wrench, I have fought the castle nut battle a few times, and I have installed the ASAP. I am in Grand Prairie if you want to head on over sometime and we'll get it installed.

I'm actually going to pull my freshly installed ASAP this afternoon, because I'm switching to a UBR. Oh well, it was a cool sling adapter for the week I had it mounted.

Also no experience with Colt, but I pulled the supposedly staked nut from my Bushmaster with just one of those cheap $5 wrenches (because Bushmaster had a 3-month backorder on the big solid multi-tool wrenches). Wasn't "easy", but I got it done with a fairly normal amount of blood, sweat, and tears (and plenty of words not fit for a 9-year-old's ears).

I LOVE my ASP plate and Magpul MS2 sling ... most versatile sling I've found.

FWIW, my M&P15 was staked as well - it broke a DPMS cheapo wrench, but the beefy spanner wrench I picked up from a friend works great.
