Armorer or Smith needed-FOUND
The crown on the barrel of my AR is damaged causing it not to be accurate. I am looking for the name and number of someone reputable to do this repair for me. I live in SW Houston and got a recommendation from the armorer at Fountain Firearms. He said Brileys close to the beltway and I-10 would do a good job. I am just seeking other opinions and recommendations for the repair.

Re: Armorer or Smith needed
Yep I just got off the phone with Ed Vanenburg himself. What he had to say was not good news, but I'm sure he know what he is doing for sure. I had to end the call short b/c I am at work and duty called, but I will be getting in contact with him again to get my rifle fixed. Briley's had a 6-8 week wait just to look at it. I have that kind of time, but not wanting to take that kind of time. I think my rifle needs to go to Ed anyway. What I thought was wrong is not the only issue, so to the professional it goes.

FWIW - IMHO - You can't do better than letting Ed V. handle it

Re: Armorer or Smith needed
Ed V. chalked it up to a front sight post being off a bit. So he corrected it and charged me nothing. I took it by me girlfriend's Dad's house, we were in the area and happen to have my AR in the truck with me. He wanted to look at it b/c I was not convinced the sight being off would be the only source of my problem. Sure enough with some examination we found the crown of my barrel is not perfectly round and is actually oblong shaped. Here is my problem! So SOG armory being on my way home was open and I called them and they were glad to take a look at it. They too could see the problem and offered to let their armorer look at it on Monday. We will see what time brings me.
