A friend bought 100 rds of 5.56 this weekend at .75 each. Did she pay too much?

I am seeing about 68 cents a round for 5.56 M-855 62 gr. So depending upon what she got it wasn't a bad price. If she scored HPBT then its a great price. Seeing HPBT match ammo still running a buck a round.

Right now, anything under a buck a round is pretty decent. That said, I'm not buying any ammo I don't absolutely need in the short term at these prices. Eventually, prices should come down to reality, I hope.

It depends!
If she really needed it, and had the cash to spare- then no big deal. We all have a personal threshold for ammo and
real needs certainly push it up a bit. If she bought it just to pad a stockpile then I'd say she overpaid but I'm not in need of 5.56 ammo and my personal threshold is much lower.
First place I looked had 6 options between $0.51-$0.56/ea.

If she needs enough to get free shipping then shop around... if she only needs a box or 3- buy local as she did.

If she got .50 for quantities of older 5.56, would that be ok.

Is she happy? If she is that's all that matters. Why tell someone they paid too much, when it's a decision they made with their $$.

She had never bought 5.56 before, bought a little at retail because it was there. Her rifle isn’t finished yet. She has a friend who has a lot more than a good start. She wanted to know what a good offer might be for a little more. But it’s old, from the 1980’s.
I wasn’t going to make her feel bad, as I don’t know anything about rifles. I wasn’t even sure where to put a decimal point or if there was one, it called NATO right.
She said this rural store even had Creedmore ? for sale, is that a rare thing.

Ammo from the 1980's should work perfectly fine as long as it isn't corroded. If she can get it at 50 cpr, I'd say that's a good deal right now.

I would say that it would depend upon the exact cartridges she bought as to whether she overpaid or not. For generic FMJ, perhaps so. But if she got some higher quality stuff, say, JSPs or the like, then maybe not. Also, brand makes a difference in cost.
