Re: Pistol Caliber Carbine Roundup
For 2 years, I tried to find a 45ACP carbine that would work. I'm not interested in thousands for a boat-anchor thompson or H&K unicorn. Without getting into specifics, I tried all the usual options and not one came close to working reliably if at all. To that end, we all laugh and make fun of Hipoint products but guess which one I got to work? Yup: their cabine in 45ACP has eaten and spit out everything I've fed it. Accuracy out to 50 yards is more than adequate. The only failing was that it came with 9-round mag, but I've since been able to find 20-round mags.
It's a bit clunky to operate and I do not like those silly 'shock-absorber' springs in the stock, so I replaced the stock with a bullpup one from High Tower armory. Additionally, I added a KAK linear comp which projects the blast forward. Funny thing is that the replacement stock costs the same as the whole carbine and the optic (Mepro I had laying around) costs as much as those combined. The thing runs like a champ.

No laughing here. I see a fair number of hipoint carbines picked up as truck guns. The bullpup conversion is pretty interesting and face it, way more affordable than a CMMG Banshee in 45!markthenewf wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 1:30 pm For 2 years, I tried to find a 45ACP carbine that would work. Just saw that Buds is asking $649 for a Kel Tec Sub 2000. I think I paid $289 for mine. Law of supply and demand.

I have this conversion. Works great even if a bit clunky. The redball magazines feed reliably.markthenewf wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 1:30 pm For 2 years, I tried to find a 45ACP carbine that would work. This one started out as a rifle, but was converted to SBR configuration in early 2017.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.
