I also once drove past a small group protesters on I-59 while driving through Houston. As traffic slowed to a crawl and then a stop I was expecting the worst. Fortunately they were not blocking the road and it turned out to be a non-threatening roadside oddity. However, although armed with my EDC and extra mags, I couldn't help but seriously think "damn, I wish I had an AR-15." Hence my hesitation to repeat the same mistake.
