I bought an 870 because of its do anything set up. short barrel for HD, longer one for hunts, interchangeable choke tubes, reliability and over 10000000 sold/made...parts are easily found. Can use for hunting/target as well. One of the most versatile kinds of gun to own, never had any issues with mine or any other I've shot.
Can't go wrong with the 1100 either, I guess, I've never heard anything negative about them.
