i've been thinking of getting the m&p 15-22 for some fun plinking and something for the girlfriend to shoot at the range. she loves my other ar's but she wants one that she can shoot all day :fire and not be hurting afterward and she knows the price of ammo is alot less. if you have one how do you like it? throw up some pics too!

FWIW I don't have an M&P 15-22 but I do have one of these and enjoy the heck out of it.

You can take the $250 or so you save and buy a case of 5.56 and several cases of .22lr. :fire

i've thought about getting the conversion but i'd rather get a dedicated .22lr. something that she can shoot while im shooting the real things.

I absolutely love my M&P 15-22.
I've shot it more than all of my other guns combined.

A buddy has an MP-15-22 and it runs like a scalded dog. Slap a red dot on it and it's great for reactive targets. Controls work the same as a normal AR (except no dust cover) so it's great practice.

The M&P 15-22 is an excellent training tool. It's also a really fun toy.

Another advantage of the 15-22 (or a dedicated upper) over a conversion kit is cleaning. Most 22 LR is dirty and I've heard stories about stuff collecting in the gas tube when shooting a drop-in 22 LR conversion.

With the quad rail, you can make it as tacticool as your budget allows, go simple with a cheap red dot scope, or even use the included BUIS.

I've only had my 15-22 for a short time; one quick trip to the range, but it went through 60 rounds without a hiccup. I "pimped" it a little by adding a BSA RD30 Red Dot (freebie with gun), a Magpul AFG and a Hogue grip, plus a Midway soft case to carry it to the range. It's definitely an accurate fun gun. I had to use a little Kentucky windage since I didn't want to take the time to zero in either the factory sights or the Red Dot. It grouped well.

We have enjoyed our 15-22 tremendously. I originally purchased it for the 12 yr old son but everyone in the family likes it, the wife, daughter and son. I have even shot a carbine match with it and it performed great. The girls can shoot all day with it with no problems. We have probably put about 5000 rds through it.

I don't really like it, it feels like an airsoft gun.....after 100 rounds, i got really bored of it.....if you wanna just plink around, then it is a good gun.

it'll be a plinking/training gun. something for my girlfriends nephew to shoot. personally i love it. went to the range and didn't spend hundreds of dollars on ammo.

I got one and really enjoy shooting it. I put a cheap red dot that I had laying around and it run's like a scalded dog.

Just for fun, I shot the IDPA classifier with it, and could not stopping giggling like a little girl. (maybe it was the way Brian was looking at me as he ran the clock <g>)

Set up some scenarios and just play.... can't be beat.
