Fun with a broken laptop

#1

Post by aaronspuler »

A friend recently bought a DPMS Panther .308 and we decided to break it in on a 10 year old broken laptop. I also used this as an opportunity to test out the Tech Sights I installed on my Marlin Model 60.

Range from shooter to target was 60 feet. Enjoy.

This "wipe" of the hard drive may not comply with
military specs since some of the ammo used is not GI ammo. :-)

It's all fun as long as you cleaned up afterward.

In case somebody else didn't say, some of the components of most computers, including laptops is hazardous material. :totap:

Yep we cleaned up afterwards and made sure to do it right since there is some nasty gunk in them. But my word it was fun.

Yea, be careful or the gov'mt might make it into a hazardous waste dump. If they made it a Super Fund site at least you could get some money> :woohoo

Nice! I've been considering that ending for my old laptop as well.

It is quite a release, d strokes. I can't be held responsible if you find yourself wanting to do it again though :)

I can see a new version of HORSE for Marksmen everywhere, find a bunch of old keyboards and set two at a time up at 100 yards and the first one to spell Horse wins with points taken away for any wrong letters hit. plus there are no dangerous/hazadous materials in them.

I've seen students who just finished a class line up their textbooks and blaze away. I asked them why they didn't at least sell them back to the bookstore and they said that the professor puts out a new edition every year so he forces students to always have to purchase new. The old ones are useless.

I thought it very fitting. They should have had the profs picture on the sleeve. It would have made a great target.

I think you're on to something. I need to find a bunch of old keyboards quick fast and in a hurry.

I just threw about 10 away last month, tired of kicking them around in the garage.
but that does bring up an idea for a fun shooting drill, you could make a sheet of paper with 1 inch squares and put letters in the squares and try to spell words while you are practicing. :fire
