12ga 00 buck available
I saw a thread about not being able to find affordable 00 buck shot for a 12ga. Aimsurplus.com has some S&B 10rd boxes for sale for $5.00 and they usually ship for $.01. Just passing on good deals...

Wally World frequently has Winchester 00 buck unplated for about $8.00 for a box of 15. It works flawlessly in both of my shotguns.
For self defense, I use the Winchester copper plated 00 buck.

Re: 12ga 00 buck available
curious, don't know much about shotgun loads. what is the benefit of plated shot in a self-defense round? As an example, Academy near me sells some sort of Remington "home defense" load with BB size shot that are plated or heavier than normal or something. On sale it's still $19.99 for 10 rounds. What makes this better or more lethal than regular BB size steel shot that is used for duck/goose/turkey hunting and sells for $15 for 25 rounds?texastaurusguy wrote:Wally World frequently has Winchester 00 buck unplated for about $8.00 for a box of 15. The plated shot doesn't flatten out from the pressure inside the barrel. It retains it's round shape which keeps the flight pattern more 'true'.
I'm thinking about switching my SD ammo to the Federal load that has a shot cup, and is plated. It keeps the pattern VERY tight and should be devastating.

Re: 12ga 00 buck available
Got some Estate #4 Buck at Cabela's on Saturday, $13.99/box of 25. Also available is 00 Buck, though it was a little lean when I saw it.
Oddly enough, I've always found the bulk boxes of the same stuff from Cabela's to be priced ABOVE that in small boxes. Sure enough, I checked and a bulk box of 250 rounds of Estate #4 Buck is $159.99, $20 more than the price on the same number of individual boxes. They come with a "free" dry box ($14.99 value!), which means you're still out $5.09 when buying the bulk box.
They do the same thing with WWB and Magtech, pricing the larger packs above the equivalent cost of simply buying normal 50-round boxes. It perplexes me. They don't seem to be getting too many suckers, either, because there's always dust on those things.
