mossberg and weatherby shotguns

i'm looking for a semi-auto 20 guage synthetic new shotgun .

i've looked into weatherby , mossberg , and the remington 11-87.

any thoughts ?

Mike, my favorite shotgun of all time was a Remington 11-87 I had as a youth growing up. It was a .410. I used my mom's 20 ga. pump a lot and really liked it. The kick was not as obnoxious as dad's 12 gage Browning A-5.

If I had a chance to go dove or quail hunting again, I'd choose a 20 ga. Good choice!

IMHO... Scratch the 11-87 and find an 1100

I have Hunted with 1100's since i was 12 years old. My dove gun is an 1100 12 ga. field special.

Nothing against semi-automatics, but don't discount a pump action shotgun. I find that I can get off a second ACCURATE shot with a pump about as fast as the guys with the autoloaders. Often they shoot before they have really lined up their second shot, and waste the ammo. Plus, if you keep it at home, there are few things so terrifying to an intruder as the sound of a pump-action shotgun -- it's a distinctive sound that just about everyone recognizes. Well, maybe the growl of a hungry Rottweiler . . .

I feel that having to work the pump action forces me to wait until I'm lined up on target again to shoot. If you're disciplined, it probably doesn't really matter, but sometimes I get so excited . . . YMMV.
