Christmas Gift from Sons!
You know you've done something right when your sons surprise you in a good way. First, both asked their respective girlfriends to marry them at Christmas and both said yes. If all goes as planned I will have two fine Daughter's-in-Law in a year or so. The oldest has graduated college, that he paid for by working two jobs and the youngest will graduate next spring. He applied for and recieved an ROTC Scholarship and still worked a full time job. Thats pretty tough when trying for a Mechanical Engineering degree. When he graduates he will be comissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Army. He is planning to be a lifer. All this definately makes a Dad proud, but in November, the oldest asked if he could borrow the old beater, behind the truck seat, Chinese SKS we have been shooting for 15 years now. He told me he was going out to help his buddy lessen the hog population that were tearing up his fields. At Christmas both boys laid a new gun case down in front of me and told me that I neede one for the SKS inside. Well when I saw this nice case I thought.....why waste such a nice case on such an old beater SKS.....until I opened the case and here is what they did for Dad's Christmas.
To say the least I was blown away. I am not a plastic stock, tactical, kind of guy, but this gun I like. There were a couple of things I did not like in the conversion. I felt the front pistol grip needed to go and the red/green dot scope as well. I changed them out for a nice bipod and long eye relief (handgun) 2x Burris scope mounted scout rifle style. Here is the final creation that the sons even like better.
It is a hoot to shoot and definately will not be thrown behind the truck seat any more.

Seems like you have a void to fill behind the seat. Opportunity to buy. What's it gonna be?
