Who has one in stock? Are the sub-$200 deals to be found?

Ive been trying to get one for around 200 for a while now. Noone is selling them for that ever since obamanation happened. It seems everyone is taking advantage of the scare, including private sellers. Good luck!

One vendor at the Dallas Market Hall gunshow this past weekend had a bunch of them for $199. I only saw them in passing, so I can't vouch for the condition. I'll bet if you hit the show in January, you'll be able to find something similar.

Honestly,I doubt it. Given the quantity of rifles available at the last one, I think we've reached a price point where there's an equilibrium between supply and demand. I'd be surprised to see prices rise much more, unless people decide they suddenly need to buy a lot more than they are right now...And that's really not likely to happen in early January, when a statically significant percentage of purchasers are still recovering from holiday expenses.

And getting ready for tax season. I also think we have hit an invisible ceiling on pricing. There is only so much the public will spend on speculation. Now when there is talk about an AWB then get ready to see prices SKY high.

$259 would be over 50% increase over the going rate in October.

I think I will be waiting for them to come back down below $200.

The price will only fall in two circumstances: either the demand decreases, or the supply increases. Neither is likely to happen.

Demand will remain high because of consumer fear, and supply remains restricted because there just aren't many more imports out there waiting. "They ain't makin' 'em anymore," as the saying goes.

One of the very few surplus rifles to retain low selling price year after year, is the Steyr/Mannlicher M95/34. It's not very popular because it kicks like a mule on steroids. The guns weren't WWII combatants; they were for constabulary use. The ammo remains plentiful and cheap, despite being collectible because it was mostly made in 1938 and is stamped with Nazi markings. Nothing else is chambered for 8x56R, so this uniquely unpopular carbine/cartridge combo remain cheap.

I've got one M95/34 and an ammo can full of 8x56R (in clips, in Nazi-marked boxes), and in 7 years I've fired 15 rounds. That was enough to prove to myself that I could do it. The rest of it will stay in reserve for zombies. Or hogs. Whichever attack first. Or zombie hogs, which might require a flamethrower (the short barrel produces an impressive fireball!)

Did you look at Military Gun Supply? They are sometimes a little hard to deal with but almost always have SKSes.

I second that about Military Gun Supply. I was there this past week and they had at least 20 for $200 each.

You mean this place?

I take it they are in Ft. Worth.

Of course I would just drop by but it's about an 8 hour round trip from my house

They don't have any SKS rifles on the web site. I guess they must have inventory in the store that is not listed on the web site. If I was really serious about buying one I might call them, but I'm not quite that serious at the moment. Maybe after the beginning of the year.

They ranged from rough Yugo's for @$300 to rare Tula's at $500+.

Well, that would make it just about worth a trip up there. I'll check in if they have any after Jan 1. when I might actually have some money to spend.

I know it's kinda cheezy but watching Lost season 3 reruns with Sayid running around with an SKS kinda makes me want one.
