Remington 600

Several years ago I had an opportunity to borrow a Remington 600 in .308 for a deer hunting trip. I was successful on the hunt and offered to purchase the gun from the owner, but he emphatically turned me down. For some reason I recently started thinking about how handy that rifle was and began looking for one but am not having any luck. I realize that Remington didn't make them for very long back in the 60s, so am I wasting my time looking for one?

Anyone familiar with the rifle, have any leads, used prices, etc?
