Yea, that’s right in my neck of woods. Got to be very vigilant during outdoor outings for sure. When I’m just running errands etc my p365 is on. When outdoors walking through the rural parts, camping etc it’s model 29 44mag.

Before traipsing out into the wilderness be sure and take an adequate firearm with you! Any large Predator will view you as Meat!

I hope they are checking for the cause of death. Another possibility is that he was murdered and the cat found the fresh kill. Real cat attacks like this are very rare events, even rarer when it is an adult attacked.

Several months ago my daughter and grand daughter had an encounter with two young pumas in Fischer, Tx. They were looking for one of their house cats and her daughter thought she heard the cat meow in a tree behind the house. My daughter got a flashlight and lit up the tree and saw the kitty up in the tree. She also notice the glow of an eye below the tree and so she directed the beam on it and saw two young mountain lions laying there. She said they were not fully grown, but were way too big to be domestic cats and their long tails were a flipping, which was a dead giveaway of what they were. She sent her daughter to get her husband to fire a couple of shots to ward them away, but before he could get there they had run away after seeing and hearing all the commotion. Fischer is near Canyon Lake.

In Big Bend NP, if you encounter a cat, they advise you to yell and shout and throw rocks at them. No, this is not a joke (like the bear joke)

Truth. I was chased by a panther one night. Bluffing it most likely saved my life.
