Why will it take 37 days to place Justice nominee on the Court? I would think a Week then vote her onto the SCOTUS

Politicians love using the opportunity to bloviate in front of the cameras.Hoodasnacks wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 7:48 pm Because of the arcane notion that you need to have hearings. I say arcane because information used to be much harder to come by. The reason for them now is just to make elected officials feel important.
If I were in the senate, especially after watching the last set of hearings, I would pass.
Hopefully we will not have a nominee based upon their religion, sex, number of children and where their family came from, rather one who is a originalist interpreter, supporter and defender of the Constitution. And has a clear record of decisions that proves that.C-dub wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 10:40 pm Going through the judiciary committee is not required and there is talk about skipping that. That could lead to a shorter process.
Others might argue that they should go through the judiciary committee to let everyone see how ridiculous the left will be when they try attacking a woman that has seven kids, 5 of her own and two adopted from Haiti. Or going after a Hispanic woman of Cuban descent. Some think it will turn off voters and the GOP might gain back the house and more seats in the senate.
So give the hearings 1 week, and then vote. The ONLY REASON for making it take 37 days is to make time for bloviating and pandering, and to give the Democrat Steno Pool (AKA “the media”) more opportunity to trash the institutions mandated by the Constitution.Hoodasnacks wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 7:48 pm Because of the arcane notion that you need to have hearings. Both his top picks already sit on a circuit court, absolutely no reason they should take 37days to promoteThe Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:07 amSo give the hearings 1 week, and then vote.
