I’m watching Philip K Dicks “Man in High Castle” on Amazon Prime.

Japan and Germany win World War II. They split the US into two pieces with the Rocky Mountains as a lawless neutral zone.

In the fourth season, I just saw a presentation In the episode to the Nazi leaders in New York to remove all the US statues, Lady Liberty, Liberty Bell to help assimilate the citizen to the new Nazi culture.

Seemed rather interesting at this moment in time.

It was probably filmed two years ago.

Winston S. Churchill wrote: History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.
What's taught today as history in public schools has already gone through a leftist, politically-correct strainer. I shudder to think what the books will say that some 6th grader has to study in 2040. Will all the valid, non-slavery reasons behind the south's secession be erased, and all people who lived in and fought for the CSA be reviled as nothing but anarchist villains and murderers? Will the war for the Republic of Texas be denounced as a "white privilege" armed takeover, ignoring the reasons why the minority rose up to face the majority, and that many, many natural-born Mexican nationals stood with, fought for, and provided vital leadership for the Republican army and the new nation? Will all of our ancestors who braved danger, new frontiers, and extreme conditions to migrate into the southern coastal states--the majority of whom were dirt-poor and came because of the opportunity offered by land and the chance to make a life for their families--be written-off as all being wealthy, privileged elitists worthy of nothing but scorn and hate?

It could happen...

I read this today about Aunt Jemima.

Born a slave. One of first African American millionaires.

Great cook. Sold out to General Mills.

If they wanted to change the name to Uncle Philip’s, and have my ugly face on the bottle, I would be proud.

Not sure I understand this whole, I’m offended.

I fully understand erasing history.

Paul McCartney wrote a song celebrating a slave trader.

New York is apparently a racist name.

Nancy Green was a model that was choosen to be the spokesperson for Aunt Jemima, not the one who owned or created the recipe.
. She was hired in 1890[5] by the R.T. Davis Milling Company in St. Joseph, Missouri, to represent "Aunt Jemima", an advertising character named after a song from a minstrel show.[3] Davis Milling had recently acquired the formula to a ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour from St. Joseph Gazette editor Chris L. Rutt and Charles Underwood and were looking to employ an African-American woman as a Mammy archetype to promote their new product.

So the attachment to this post is all fiction. Never a millionaire. Didn't sell to General Mills. Born from another of those black face minstrel shows. Nancy Green who was a model for the "Aunt Jemima" died when she was hit by a truck while walking on the sidewalk in Chicago.

Sorry for just repeating fake news.

My reading of history suggests the Deep South cotton states seceded mainly over slavery... they pretty much said so in their convention debate records.

Border states like Tennessee and Virginia seceded later, and probably had additional concerns, like being invaded, and not contributing 75,000 volunteers to Lincoln in order to be invaded.

My great grandfather was a farmer in West Tennessee, aged 21 when war started. I expect he fought not for slavery or constitutional principles as much as because his three brothers and most of his friends all signed up with the Yorkville Rifles (later the 13th Tennessee Infantry regiment). They had about 90% casualty rate. I bet he would later probably judge it all to have been not worth it, as a practical matter.

Pardon the hijacking from Nazis and statues.
