Troops could have night vision injected into their eyes
In a study from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, researchers injected nanoparticles that converted infrared light into visible light into the eyes of mice. Those mice were then placed in a maze along with mice who didn't receive the injections, and were able to find their way out of the maze. The nanoparticles bound to the photoreceptors of the mice's eyes and provided night vision for up to 10 weeks without any ill effects.

No. Just no. Dumb idea. The guy would be seeing green for the rest of his life. Think of him not ever, ever, ever being able to go to a beach, or on a boat without wearing welders glasses.

The article says it converts infrared into visible light, not necessarily just green light. Until some human actually tries it won’t know exactly what he does see, but I don’t think it follows that daylight would be overwhelming. He may just have enhanced vision during the day because you can see the infrared as well as the visible light reflections.
But I don’t think I wanna be the first want to try it
