We’re constantly told by leftist politicians, media and “entertainment” (sic) figures that the solution to America’s mass shootings is the elimination of the hundreds of millions of firearms already in private hands. But semi-automatic magazine-fed rifles (and pistols, revolvers and shotguns) have been available for over a century, while mass shootings are a modern phenomenon. The guns didn’t change, society did.

I don't know who the originator was, but I see a quote something like this somewhere:
"why is it the first thing some people want to do after a shooting is take away guns from the people that didn't do it?"

There is a simple straight-forward answer to that question. They always wanted to take away people's guns and are trying to find a chance, as happened in Australia, to do it. If people are not normally weak enough to fall for your con, you try to catch them at a weak moment. Gun grabbing is a crime of opportunity.
