I got suspended for 12 hours on Twitter for calling a spade a spade. Oddly enough, I in no way promoted violence against, threatened, or harassed Chelsea Handler. I was replying to an article posted by BreitbartNews about Chelsea Handler alleging that Justice Clarence Thomas is still as much a sexual predator today as much as he was in 1991. The funny thing was, the suspension notice I got didn’t take more than about 15 seconds after I posted my response. Obviously, Handler has someone monitoring her account 24/7 and complaining in real time. What a wuss.
I contacted twitter support to protest the decision, and got a message saying that it would take at least 24-48 hours for them to respond. So there’s no effective appeal for my 12 hour timeout.
This is what social media has come to......and so far, my experience had been that Twitter was much less restrictive than Facebook. I guess not.
I’ll wear it as a badge of honor, and put a big red X next to my handle.
