Is there an end to this madness?

Kroger said it will stop selling magazines that feature assault rifles as part of a tightening of its policies in the wake of the Parkland mass shooting and growing national anger over gun violence.

How stupid is that? You reckon they'll stop selling magazines that have cars and trucks in 'em too?

The culture war continues with legal gun ownership continuing to be marginalized.

This is part of the modern, toxic, trend. Project it out a little. How many times have the Kroger's directors heard that handguns are for only one thing?

Magazines like American Handgunner can't be far behind magazines about assault rifles.

But, really, those magazines fail when it comes to glorifying mayhem. They are too concerned with safety and range performance to well serve evil.

Novels, on the other hand, some of them, certainly glorify killing. Surely, using what I guess to be Kroger's reasoning, books should pass some form of screening. Free speech, surely, would not be infringed if there were reasonable steps to protect children from improper ideas. Who would want, I imagine the Kroger's board eventually saying, their kids to be at the mercy of unregistered authors and unlicensed publishers?

Writers are known to cower in the shadows. Many of them glorify anonymity with assumed, hard to trace, names. They even glorify their intellectual sniper's roosts with euphemisms. They don't use fake names, they use pen names. They don't attack from the shadows, they say they use nom de plumes.

Clearly, I imagine in a Kroger's press release, there is no place in reasonable society for this behavior.

Stockpile marshmallows. Book burnings might not be that far off.

Yet, the hypocrites at Kroger’s will continue to sell alcohol and tobacco products that are responsible for far more deaths and injuries every year than “assault weapons.” They will continue to have an aisle dedicated to selling candy so as to promote obesity, a major health issue. Progressive socialists bent on achieving their agenda “see no hypocrisy, hear no hypocrisy, speak no hypocrisy.”

It wasn't long ago Kroger was receiving a lot of love on here for allowing open carry and having the best summer sausage.

We don't have an HEB near me, but we recently had a WinCo open up around the corner. Might have to give them a bit more business. I've been impressed with them so far.

I like the WinCo in Arlington. We don't shop there enough, will have to start stopping there instead of passing by on the way to Walmart.
