Isaiah Carey is a local (to Houston) "news" guy. I use the quotes because he rarely reports news. He makes his living sensationalizing stories and seems to lean pretty far to the left (makes me wonder how he stays employed at a Fox News affiliate).

He just did a "report" on open carry in Houston where he highlighted the fact that HPD has only seen a video to prepare them for the new open carry law and has not been trained in person. He actually said he doubted HPD was ready for the "increased number of guns on the street come January 1st". I wonder where the new guns will come from? Surely he did his research and fully understands that anyone openly carrying a pistol after 1 Jan is already licensed and is likely to be carrying concealed today...

Just because they work for Fox does not mean they are right wing constitutionalists.

You would be surprised at how many work for Fox in DC - the big one - that are left wing prog socialists.

There is nothing honest about mainstream media. They are all in the government pocket and are just the propaganda wing of the government.

From what I've read in comments on various news articles, facebook posts and such, a large portion of the population of Texas has no clue that OC is with license only. People seem to think everyone will be carrying like Hollywood's old west. And there will instantly be shoot outs in the streets. It is amazing how clueless people are. The degree of ignorants just amazes me. It's not a wonder the state of this county is with these people voting.

They are known as low information voters for a very specific reason.

I'm wondering how many I'll actually see open carrying.

Definitely not a scientific sampling, but was amazed and appalled at the misinformation among the folks at my usual barbershop yesterday (mostly small town good folks, but also a bunch of young soldiers). A significant number believed that effective 1 January, anyone could carry any gun anywhere and CHL (LTC) only applied to concealed carry. I had to burst their bubble as several who did not have a LTC were going to "strap on" on Friday and did not even know what a 30-07 sign was or meant or that a charge of unlawfully carrying would wreck their chances of getting a LTC. Too many news stories on Open Carry that either omit or gloss over the license requirement.

The media is trying to make OC a big story. My wife came to me a couple of days ago really concerned after seeing a local report that implied there would be guns all over the place. The impact of the story really bothers me because of the impact it had on my wife. My wife is knowledgeable about my LTC. We have talked through self-defense and situational awareness. She is also a darn good shot. I am so ready for the hype to be over.

This is something that concerns me a bit as I too have encountered people that are clueless about the actual laws. Most of us on here are keenly aware of what is going on and the laws. Many people that are not as aware and in tune with gun related issues and legislation have little to no real knowledge of what is going on and what the laws are. It's going to take some time for things to get sorted out. Patience and understanding will be needed by all involved.
