I was USAF EOD and I know the difficulties he was talking about with the BLU's. Sometimes when we were about to walk or drive on an area with live munitions we would ask each other "do you feel lucky today?" You never knew what you would step on or drive over. My condolences to your friend and a fellow EOD tech.
