The biggest concern I have with this is the hype that M$ is pushing game developers to only develop cloud based games and nothing on the disc. This would put out of business a bunch of Game Stops. And this is the the majority way I buy games and only occasionally a new game.

Yeah well I have been looking at an xbox for a while now. I still don't even have an Xbox 360. I do have the original Xbox but the only reason I have that is because I HAD TO HAVE Steel Battalion...
I wanted to play things like Halo and Gears of War but just can't pull the trigger on the purchase. I keep looking at it and think that's a box of ammo and I can't do it

If cloud doesn't put GameStop out of business the new charge Xbox one will have for using a used game sure will. The system looks like it should be nice tho, seems a bit bulky but that could change by the holiday release I guess. It will be interesting to see the level of TV stb integration it has. The sports/tv part looked pretty cool.

It looks lie the sharing fee will be the same cost of a new game:

It won't take long for Game Stop to mount a legal defense and sue the you know what out of them. If I was a franchisee, I'd be screaming to the high heavens. As a user, I am sickened that they are finding a way to make you pay full price and shutting down a business. What if printed publishers figured out a way to do this with books? It is kind of like all the ammunition manufacturers getting together and figuring out a way to stop people from reloading.
All that this type of behavior from M$ and $ony creates is a world that figures out how to hack the systems and for folks like me to do it just so I can stick it to them.

I was a diehard 360 fan, but this reveal has just about 100% turned me off to Xbox. I didn't have steady internet access in Afghanistan, so having to connect would have been a deal breaker... plus I was sent probably 15 used games in care packages, and coworkers swapped them around all the time, so the used game thing would have been another dealbreaker. Always-on microphone and (possibly) camera, connected to the internet? No thanks.
I'll stick with 360, probably not buy a One and will most likely stick entirely with PC gaming now.

I don't understand. So you can't just stick a game disc in? Like rent one from gamefly and play for a week then return for a new game?

Nope, can't rent a game either unless they enable temporary access or something similar. Same way they have done for pc games for ages.

I've been reading online, nothing official mind you, that the game rental businesses will be affected as well and that M$ will charge you full price for the rental game.

I sure hope enough people are as aggravated (word I have to use for here) as much as I am and do not support this system or business model . I hope this goes down as a huge failure for M$ and $ony.
Most folks are hoping that there will be enough push back and the business model will change a little so that rental and used can still have a place in this world.
I wonder how long M$ will keep Live going for the 360 users?

I hear Adobe is going full cloud mode for their PhotoShop software. People that purchase every upgrade will be fine with it, but folks like myself who buy once and use it well past its expiration date will be paying way more. I dislike this business model, when I purchase software I want the disk so I can move from old to new computer, or sell and recoup the expense if I no longer need it. With this model, you are forced to buy vaporware IMHO.
