I was a teacher in the Phila suburbs. When I left teaching, I worked in many parts of the Phila City area - Northeast, South, Center City. We lived in the area for 16 years. I became very familiar with the schools. We still have friends in that area and they report than nothing has changed.

Corruption is widespread. Here is just a sample

The teachers union is a strong political force and, like Chicago, the result is very poor performing schools. Unions are fine but when they are politically linked to city governnment, the result is no oversight and no accountability.

The TV news report about the administration ducking any responsibility is only the latest such event. There is no way that I would ever send any relative of mine to the Phila. District. They had some fine magnet schools but overall, the way that this matter was handled is pretty much the way they handle everything.

Oh, they are. And highly paid, too

Now you would think that someone who was making $800K on the taxpayer's dime would be able to step up and address a problem like this, wouldn't you? I'm assuming that Dr. Hite makes the same money as Ackerman, his predecessor, who was canned.

They all carry a D.ED. That is supposed to make them highly educated. I worked with world class Phd's and none of them insisted that I call them "doctor" Try that around a school administrator.

If you want some interesting reading, Google Dr. Ackerman and all the antics that she pulled. No wonder things like the situation with this poor little girl happen in that school system. I watched her on TV and she is scared - over the school's reaction to a piece of paper. Someone ought to fry for this incident.

This is child abuse and is part of an agenda to make children terrified of guns. I'd like to see the bully who calls himself an educator discredited, humiliated, and have his career ruined. It would be less than what he did to her. :mad5 The pain in that child's eyes brings out the mama bear in me.

I don't know why this particular instance of educator brutality is bugging me so much, but I can't really remember the last time I've been so :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 at a school official. It might be for the best that I don't live in Philly, or else I'd probably talk (shout, really) myself into a lot of trouble, and that sorry excuse for a dirt bag would likely get a promotion for having to endure the emotional "trauma" of being yelled at.

I beg to differ. You make it sound like the incidental product of a stupid policy. It isn't. It's a deliberate part of the prog objective to stigmatize gun ownership.

All seriousness aside, at least of the moronic media started talking about high capacity "clips" with relation to this story, it might make some sense.

We had the misfortune of living in PA for three years and had nothing but trouble with the teachers and school officials. I'll respect the forum and limit my comments to that. In the end, my wife and I decided that those folks just needed to get some more sunlight (vitamin D deficiency I guess). And we got back to Texas as fast as we could.
