Tense Moment at the Movie Theater

#1

Post by jocat54 »

Dear wife and I went to the movies in Kerrville this afternnon and I was intently watching everyone that moved....guess I am paranoid....the movie had just started, about 15 minutes into it, when the back exist door swung open...I felt my wife jump and tense up and my hand instantly went to the butt of my IWB carry.

It was some older lady that just went on thru the movie (could have been an employee I guess) I never got very comfortable from that time on.

The movie was "Django Unchained" ........not a bad movie but very, very gory and I guess they really described how it was during slavery days....much to much use of the N word for me. All of the shooting scenes weren't realistic at all.

I ALWAYS carry in a theater! Have always felt very vulnerable there. Not sure there is any spot that gives you an advantage.

Sad everybody is on such a high state of alert. Glad it was just a movie.

One week after I got my CHL, my daughter was in town so we went to see a movie. I carried and ran every scenario through my head if a gunman came through any of the doors. Also kept an eye on every persons movements. I guess because I was new to CHL and VERY aware that I had a gun on me, I had a heightened sense of awareness. The very next day the mass shooting at the theater in CO happened. Gave me chills.

I went to the Studio Movie Grill in Arlington to see The Dark Knight Rises two days after the shooting in Colorado. I was carrying, not because of what happened but because I always do in movie theaters. About 10 minutes into it the screen goes dark and the emergency lights came on. It wasn't enough to switch me from yellow to orange but it did get my attention. The staff was really quick to come in and announce that a storm had moved in and a surge had caused the digital projector to re-boot.

I havn't been to a movie theater since the hangover 2 came out but I would never go to one not carrying or any other place for that matter(law permitting). I refuse to die without a fight!
