Avatar Change...

#1

Post by Scott in Houston »

I used to have an avatar that I found humorous. It was Obama's face with a "665" on his forehead. I received one complaint, but that's not why I'm changing...

I'm changing because I'm ready for college football!!!!

Aren't you??? This time of year is just brutal with only MLB in action... just brutal. Well, football is almost here!! Just less than two weeks before our universities hit the turf and start playing!

Who do you root for? Anyone want to make predictions?

My new avatar in full rez:

I don’t respond too many of the threads presented on this forum, although I read interesting topics on nearly every day. (Also I don’t type very well) And some I think do not deserve a response. Although I personally do not care much about football evidently you do and that is your prerogative, and I respect that. Actually I don’t care much about any sports and that is my prerogative. I have changed my avatar on several occasions because I find a new picture sometimes and I think they are pretty and, well I just do.
On this forum the topics seem to focus mostly around the second amendment and rightly so, but without the first amendment we wouldn’t have the second. Some peoples posts I disregard and some I read. Yours I read because I think they usually have substance. I don’t know or really care who didn’t like your previous avatar. Some probably don’t like my turkey either. I’m just rambling now and will stop.
Just to end with the topic at hand, I do like high school football more than professional or college.

I assume because the Baylor guy has the ball that you're a Baylor fan? (You didn't really specify).

I won't be changing my avatar, but I am really looking forward to football season.

As for predictions?

Well, I'm currently 7-0 and ranked #2 in the country with A&M on NCAA '13, so I'd settle for that.... :biggrinjester: .

In all seriousness: New coach, new conference, new offense, new quarterback. I will be pleased with going .500 for the year this time around.

I'll be in College Station on Sep 8th for the Florida game. First SEC home game...can't miss it!

You must be using a real QB... Maybe a Heisman with #10?

Watching to see how y'all do will be interesting. I think 6 wins is a best case scenario, but what do I know.

I can't wait!!! I love college football. This will be the first year in a a while that I've cared about the NFL as well.

I believe in the Mean Green!

I was born in Fort Worth and grew up in the suburbs here as an avid Aggie fan and accumulated a local love for TCU. I'll still root for both of those teams unless they're playing North Texas. We also have strong family ties to Baylor (two uncles and five first cousins), so I can get behind them. . . although I'd be a much more ardent supporter if they'd adopt the 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession! :rules: :cheers2:

:txflag:
I pull for most major Texas teams that aren't burnt Orange or crimson and cream (yes, they are a Texas team. . . look at the roster). :evil2:

Outside of despising all things UT and OU, I have a complex rooting hierarchy that allows me to have somebody to pull for in most Saturday games. It's a lot different than my NFL strategy, where I disdainfully ignore everybody but the Cowboys.

That billboard is in DFW or Houston (I don't remember which, I think there are some in both cities).

There's also one in Austin. :biggrinjester:

Nope! College sports have turned into a business. (Just look at Penn State.) Athletes are not permitted to earn a living while attending school even if they have not received a scholarship. There is always a way for an academic deficient player to be on the field/court. Schools can sell paraphernalia with a student's (player's) name on the item--for a profit--and the same person cannot charge to sign it. Most of these liberal institutions condemn capitalism yet have not problems sitting back reaping the benefits of a corrupt system all while enjoying tenure.
