What brand and style do you prefer?
I've try two different one from Bates and they are nothing but painful.
They do need to be waterproof.

I have a pair of Bates that I got at Academy for around $80. I wore them while standing at the gates at Ft Sam Houston for 10+ hours everyday for about 3 months and I wear them on 12 hour shifts now and they are very comfortable. I did spend about $30 on a good pair of insoles and they help out a lot too. I have also heard good things about the 5.11 brand being comfy but they are pretty expensive. Too bad that you never really know until you wear them how they are going to feel.

I wear them hrs at time myself. The first night they felt good but the second and third were painful and if I had not changed to my shoes I would have several blisters. I got these at academics as well but they cost me $100.

Oakley, Danner, Haix I know to be solid. Here's some others:

:iagree: Haven't tried Haix, though. For me, one of the main considerations for comfort is that the boots come in at least a 2E width. Danner and Oakley both do. I personally like the selection that Danner offers, but they ain't the cheapest on the block.

As much as I'm on my feet, I don't care about the "cheapest". It's COMFORT I'm looking for.

I have tried many many different ones and I now only wear Oakley boots. I have 3 pair right now I think. They offer them in lots of sizes, fabrics, soles, etc. I often wear them for events where I'm on my feet for 12-18 hours a day 3-4 days in a row. Can't beat them in my mind...or on my feet ;-)

Depending on your job, you may qualify for half price boots from Oakley at http://www.usstandardissue.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also - if you get better boots like Danner, Haix, etc, then you can resole them every few years and lower your cost of ownership.

I wear a pair of Bates, I wear all the time, except a work and church (dress up).

They are comfortable, easy, light and have worn well.

If I ever wear these out, I'll get another pair in a heartbeat.

I like my Converse. I finally went to crepe sole cowboy boots instead of leather soles and these are just as comfortable.

Other dealers have them, I am just using this one.
They come in different heights and colors. Black and earth.

I guess my feet aren't all that picky. The last pair of tactical boots I had were those Commander boots at WalMart. I think I had them for about two years and wore them about 2-3 days a week. I also thought my flight deck boots were comfortable.

I've seen those Oakley's before, but at $244 I'll just have to continue to drool.
