Apparently this gentleman thought that what happened to Plaxico Burress when he tried the same thing wouldn't also happen to him.

Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of others are doomed to repeat them, usually with similar results.

[Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler] warned residents to use holsters, not waistbands, if they're going to carry a handgun.
Good for the detective. I wonder what the public statement would have been had the incident happened in New York or Chicago?

Another article on this subject (http://www.azcentral.com/community/chan ... t0811.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) had this take:

The movies and TV shows, like Sons of Anarchy, that show tough guys with guns shoved into their jeans are not realistic, Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler said Sunday. The cops and robbers of the silver screen most likely use rubber weapons, which weigh far less than the real things, Tyler said.

So, my question for those of you who frequently run into the thugs on the street (ie - you were/are cops, narcs, etc.) - are most of the handguns that you see/run into carried in the waistband (ie - Mexican carry)? Or are the thugs using a holster? Just curious. Had a conversation with a buddy that is an ex narc, said he had to carry "Mexican style" when he was undercover, otherwise using a holster would be a dead give away that he was under cover, this was from awhile back (he did NOT like carrying that way). Wondered if things have changed. :tiphat:

Can this guy be a candidate for the "Darwin Awards" ... seems he didn't kill himself, but he most likely removed himself from the gene pool with that shot.

In my experience, the rule of thumb is that someone with a gun in a holster is 90% likely to be a good guy, and someone with a gun carried in the waistband is 90% likely to be a bad guy.

Nothing is 100%, but this provided a useful starting point for dealing with folks when their carry method was known.

Look for heaven sakes don't be an idiot, Think--there is a reason they make holsters--too keep anything and everything out of the trigger guard unless you want it there. To prevent accidents from coming anywhere near happening.

...perzactly my experience...the BG wants to be able to dump it quickly...the GG will spend $100 to make sure he DOESN'T drop it...

You started your post without scrolling all the way to the bottom past my message and put your message inside the close quote html tag (the thing that looks like this: [/quote]) that marks the end of the post you're replying to. That made your message look like it was part of mine.

I fixed it fer ya.

Aargh!

It did that because it read the sample html tag I used to show you what happened, even though it was inside the parentheses.

I had to take that out to make it format properly.

Anyway, you get the idea.
