California Ticket, OUCH!!!!!
Jeez the State must really be broke.
I am here again for a few weeks. About a week or so ago I got 2 tickets for entering the HOV lane early(crossing line/guilty) and no use of turn signal(not true). So today I get a call from home saying I got a letter from a California Court, I ask them to open it up and read me what it says, they tell me the total is $760.
My friend just got a speeding ticket back in Texas for doing 63 in a 55 and it is $76. I haven't gotten a ticket in a very long time, so maybe this is how it is now everywhere, but the worst part are the actual tickets are only around $200 each the rest is added on fees. For instance a talking on cell phone ticket is $100, but the actual fine paid is around $350.
Looks like I'm gonna have to go to court or do a written declaration.

Remember, California uses the term "fee" as a substitute for "tax."Rebel wrote:Jeez the State must really be broke.

Unfortunately I have to all the time. It's a shame such a beautiful State has been completely ruined.pbwalker wrote:Will you ever step foot in California again?Rebel wrote:Jeez the State must really be broke.

I think he was hinting at not paying it - they won't extradite for a class C (equivalent) local traffic warrant. Texas won't even enter them in TCIC, so you're pretty much good out of county, at least in this area.Rebel wrote:Unfortunately I have to all the time. Trust me I would love not to pay, but I can't do that, even though I think it's a horrible setup they have for their HOV/carpool lanes. Basically once you enter you are trapped until they have a break in the double yellows. So unless you very familiar with the route, you could be locked in the HOV for miles past your intended exit. Not so cool if your a tourist or in a new area and do not know your way around.gigag04 wrote:I think he was hinting at not paying it - they won't extradite for a class C (equivalent) local traffic warrant. By the way does anyone know how this will affect my Texas DL?

Tell me about that, is some cities sales tax is over 12%. Got to love a State that has income tax, highest fuel cost, and a sales tax that would choke a horse, and they wonder why all the small businesses are leaving and the State is broke.Beiruty wrote:And Ka tax is a "Super duper TAX"

Isn't their debt something like $50,000,000,000? I guess they're trying to recoup that from any where they can.
Edit to add: I was going to say we have a new winner, but this is a two ticket total, while my wife's single ticket was about $526 here in Texas.

This is another example that proves that traffic tickets are all about safety.C-dub wrote:Isn't their debt something like $50,000,000,000?
