I am wanting a pair of motorcycle boots. I am looking at boots similar to the one in the link below. I just do not know what are good/comfortable brands. I have Ariat cowboy boots and Twisted X work boots and both are absolutely great. If any of you have suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks.

I think this is a different strokes for different folks deal..
But these are my street boots So I guess I'm not much help with the style your after.

Leather, over the ankle, additional armor over ankle and other spots likely to be dragged on the ground, fit and comfort.

I still have my old leathers and boots from when I roadraced bikes back in the 1980s. I have a set of Dainese "Freddie Spencer" replica leathers, and a matching pair of Sidi boots.

Yes... I was young and skinny back then, and not nearly as crippled up as I am now.

I wear a slip on set of redwing work boots. I don't like lace boots on a bike.

I have a pair of Harley harness boots. Great boots, very comfortable. In fact, I was wearing them when I was T-boned by a van and sent skidding down the pavement for about fifty yards with the bike on top of me. The boots did their job, no injuries to my feet. They were scuffed up pretty bad but more or less survived. The bike... not so much. Still wear the boots though.

I always advocate armored riding gear, however I can endorse these boots as sufficient after being "battle tested".

In 1984 I went to the California Super Bike school, It was noted that I had a tendency to point my toes out, and was at risk to drag them on the track. Keith Code suggested to me to swap my boots, wearing the left on the right foot, and right on the left foot. It worked... I never dragged a toe on the track again.

Or it could be I just put on the chair as I was getting ready for my ride today and snapped a pic... you decide..

Great memento of a day gone by. I sold my first few set of leathers..... Like my first bike, it is a memory only at this point.

At what track? I started racing at Willow Springs (which was also Keith's main track) in 1985. I've actually known Keith for years, although he probably wouldn't remember me. He certainly never was at a loss for an unorthodox solution.

I used to run into him all over the place, like at a local restaurant in La Cañada/Flintridge all the time which we both frequented called the Hill Street Cafe (right at the intersection of Angeles Crest Highway and Foothill Blvd), or up at Newcomb's Ranch on the Crest, and I would bump into him at the racetracks when I was racing. I've had lots of conversations with him, although I doubt he would remember my name. I remember reading "A Twist of the Wrist" before I ever started roadracing. Willow was my home track, but our club raced regularly at Riverside Raceway too, and I've had a little track time at Laguna Seca a couple of times.

Sears point,,,umm, back when it was called Sears Point.
While I got to listen to Keithes class room instruction and a word or ten of encouragement between lap sessions,, I would hardly say I got to speak to him... It was a GREAT day for sure. Always said I would go back for the two day course, but never did.

Delusions of grandeur.. Being handed a factory Ride and kicking Freddy Spencer from his HRC Honda were just that fantasy..

Lots of choices. I use lace up boots and slip on. My personal choices are a bit narrower because most brands
only go to size 13.... I need a 14M. Currently I use:
Tour-Master-Boots/Tour-Master-Boots-Nomad-Motorcycle-Boot-for-Men
and a pair of Eddie Moran's harness boots I picked up at Sportsmen's Guide.
I like both. I do not advise leather soled boots. Chippawa makes a great pair of
motorcycle boots but they are pricey.
Some guys like to have laces and a zipper for easy on and off. Either is fine w/ me.
1. Make sure it covers your ankle (extra thick or padding is best)
2. I like a oil resistent neoprene sole / Goodyear welt construction.
3. A reinforced toe box is nice.
4. For a touring type bike having a heel on your boot is good
Harley boots are fine. Remember HD outsources their boots and motorclothes, so, if you're
not hung up on the HD label, shop around. Good luck.

I wear Bates boots that I got at Academy. They are comfortable and have a great grip. May not be the style you are looking for, but they have been working good for me.

My current favorite is a pair of 511 leather and mesh duty boots (law enforcement/fire/emt). I got the ones with the tall uppers for ankle support & protection, and they lace for comfort - but once they're laced and knotted properly, you can use the zipper on the side for easy on/off. Great for walking, and very comfortable on the bike. I've even worn them with slacks to work, and they're nice enough looking that no one has said anything.

Many years ago I would wear a pair of Joe Rocket riding shoes that had armor over the ankles, and I would change into work boots when I got to work. I finally came across some steel toe boots that had a low enough profile to not bump the shifter (I wear size 12) and now I just wear those when I ride. http://www.hytest.com/Shop/detail.aspx? ... id=&stid=M I’m on my third pair. They are also extremely comfortable. When I had an ingrown toenail taken out last year, these were more comfortable to wear than my Sketchers.

I wear the HD Harness. I have tried all types of boots but keep comming bacl to these as the most comfotable.

I have a pair of Harley harness boots and like them well enough for regular use. I wouldn't want to use them for riding though since they do not provide ankle support or armor. My riding boots are Alpinestars very similar to bronco's boots. They have an internal lace system and plenty of hard armor externally. I've found them much more comfortable to ride in than regular boots, and walking isn't terrible.
