What line of work are you in?

It seems to me that there's a disproportionate representation of some work fields on the forum. I find myself often saying, "Another one?" and it isn't in areas I would have expected. I'm curious what the primary professions of posters are.

I made it a poll so that your individual answers won't show. That way, the count can be taken without any individual person being connected to a particular profession if he or she doesn't want to be. I'm sure I accidentally left plenty of professions out, so please forgive me and choose which option comes closest to covering your profession.

1) Some jobs might fit in several categories. Please only choose one category per job so that the same job isn't counted several times.
2) Some people work more than one job. I set it to allow you to choose up to three options.
3) Some people are unemployed but do not want to be. Please feel free to choose the industry you were in or are moving into either one.
4) Some people are retired or otherwise not looking for work. Please feel free to choose the primary industries you've worked in as well as to choose the retired/not looking option.

Ugh! I forgot to specifically include a gun-related category. Oh well, they're covered under the other sections (law, education, service, etc).

I'm bummed by how many people are already needing to choose none of the above. It's a full quarter of the responses so far. I don't know if I envisioned their jobs going into one of the overarching categories, if I left out significant sections of the work force, or if this forum has a lot of renaissance men. :/

If you know of significant employment sectors I left out, it's still early enough that I can edit the poll options without much trouble.

My wife and I own an Executive Headhunting firm. Not really in any of the categories. I choose other. I also own a small Hang Gliding company that makes HG accessories and provides parts, services, solutions, and education to the community of hang gliding pilots.

I thought of adding physical stuff, but I couldn't figure out how to word it. I'll go add a recreation category (the word just now came to me because of your post). I would have put headhunting under business.

I selected the option to allow voters to change their votes.

Without being very specific, I'm self employed going on 14 years.
I provide a unique service that only very few others are able to do...well.

I voted "Skilled Labor". :coolgleamA:

LOL - some of my categories are going negative. There were several business people who are now all gone, a law/politics response, a computer person or two...

Oh no! I hope when I edited it to add sports and rec that it didn't erase all the previous responses. OK, I won't edit it again. If you responded before, please verify that your choices are still selected. I'm sorry!

I work in power generation. I think Utilities could be included for a possible new category.
