South Park censored because of death threats.

The American broadcaster Comedy Central this week censored the programme after the episode's depiction of the Prophet Mohamed dressed as a giant teddy bear drew a warning on an Islamist website that the show's creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, would be murdered.

Trey Parker is a gun owner and leans toward libertarian views. The network censored them (Comedy Central). Trey and Matt are trying to figure out a way to distribute the uncensored version (online or DVD).

Go to 1:56. They bring up a FANTASTIC point that they ALREADY showed "the prophet" in Episode 5.....which is now in its 14th season. They also show him, all the time, in repeats. On a side note, I love the creators because they got their head screwed on straight on this whole issue. I won't spoil the whole interview though. Enjoy.

I don't know if I'd call it "wimping out".
Thier lives were threatened and you know as well as I do that the muslim extremist arms reach every part of the earth. I would think they did the right thing. Our America right of freedom of speech means nothing to the extremist.
If they feel it's worth a jihad then nothing will stop the untill they get thier way.

If the newspaper that published the original comic wouldn't have hung out to dry the Danish artists in the first place, we wouldn't be in this mess. Jihadist already hate us, so why should we limit what we say to appease them? So they kill us more humanely? We are all infidels who need to be converted or die to the radical Islamists. They live by the sword and die by the sword, and if the creators feel comfortable doing it then let them do it. I applaud them for sticking by their principals, and calling out the media who made this the new norm.

I'm just saying, if they felt the threats were legit then they did the right thing.

I'm not saying I like that they had to edit thier show due to some death threats form a "shrieking beard" as you put it( ) but if that's what they felt they had to do to ensure their ability to continue breathing then so be it.
They did what the felt they had to do, that was thier defence.
Does it suck? Oh yeah! But what other option did they have? Run the bit and always have to wonder if every person darker than an albino is gonna go all kamikaze on em while they try to get thier 72 virgins for killing the white devil who insulted thier gods messenger?
It may have been all smoke blowin up the wa-hoo but then again maybe it wasn't, you never know.
They were just being safe and looking out for number one.

Medic, just a clarification, Parker and Stone didn't choose to censor their own show. Comedy Central made the decision for them.
