That Intruder Could Be Your Mate!

I can see this happening (not to me, of course!).

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/ ... 39905.html

My wife's grandpa would always come out the front door on to the front porch with a shotgun... anytime anyone drove up.
His eyes started getting bad later.... so my mother-in-law would always holler out the car window "It's me, Dad! It's me!"
Maybe this guy's wife will say something along those lines... the NEXT time she comes back from the bathroom in the dead of night.

When Mars enters the house, he usually says, "It's me. Don't shoot!" If he forgets, I loudly demand to know if it's him. He always speaks up.

I usually announce my presense as well. This system serves us well.

My kids always identify themselves when they come over...they know that I am always armed.

Then again...maybe he knew exactly whom he was shooting at... I would hope that I would not be so quick to pull the trigger. I have 2 dogs that sleep on the floor at the foot of the bed. If they ain't making a ruckus, then all is well in the world. If a frog bumps it butt outside, they will let me know...LOUDLY.

Spouses and kids get up for all kinds of reasons in the middle of the night. Not identifying that the person was not supposed to be there and an actual threat is pure negligence and just plain stupid. :nono:

I agree. I agree to the point that I am leaning towards charges should be filed against him.
I think it really depends on the investigation, but this one needs to be looked at long and hard. Whether accidental or not, this person doesn't need to have a gun if they are that jumpy. :banghead:

I have to agree...this is what they make flashlights for: identify your target...before you pull the trigger!!
