One Earring or Two?

Yeah, seafaring men of old sometimes wore a small gold earring, but now there's a certain male group wearing not one, but two earrings. That is, one in each ear. Yikes!

Sporting an earring in each ear is the new in thing for these, ah, males, and not for laughs either. These guys obviously think it looks, well, good...

Since some males are now sporting highlights in their hair, shaving their chests and backs and in some cases adopting girly worries about their appearance, I wonder what next?

After this, what'll be the new in thing? Purses for men? No, wait, that's already happening... Hhhhmmmm O.K. Ball gowns? False eyelashes? Rhinestone glass's frames? (Elton John doesn't count, or does he...?)

I shudder to think what some guys will come up with and won't bat an indignant eyelash when they defend their newest fashion accessory.

Us knuckle dragging types wonder why these males don't see how very feminized they're becoming? Being clean and neat in appearance used to be the standard, but apparently that isn't good enough for some.

Perhaps father-less children are the reason for these developments? Or liberal over wash in the public school system? You know, the one that doesn't approve of score keeping and emphasizes self-esteem over everything.

Men should be judged by their character, not appearance. I am overweight, do not have a college degree, am a Christian, specifically a cradle Roman Catholic, A Texan, An American, Pro-life.

I love my wife, my sons, my grandsons. I am a conservative, not a republican (by the current party). I demonstrated for Israel yesterday with Iratollah.

There are those who would denounce me for every one of these just the same that you are espousing your definition of what makes a man a man.

Real men do not look down their nose at anyone because they are different. Real men influence those around him by example, not words.

Men have sported earrings for centuries, maybe even millennium. It started coming back in vogue about 20 years ago. At least it seems that way to me. I know a lot of men that sport one or two earrings. It doesn't bother me a bit, nor do I see a lessening of their masculinity because of it. I do have to admit that it is not for me. I don't think my wife would like it (on me) either.

I have both ears pierced, two in the left, one in the right, but I haven't actually worn an earring in them in about 15 years. This has been "in vogue" for much longer than 20 years for certain groups of people (such as musicians). I don't care how much of a "real man" you think you are, if you wear Dockers and a pressed button-down shirt, clean shaven, hair trimmed and tidy, etc. then you may fit in with realtors, bank tellers and sales reps but you are going to look like a dang fool if you are playing in a rock band.

Most professions have a standard for proper attire and appearance, and it's not universally the same for every one of them.

Morphed changes in sexuality to some extent are due in no small part to chemical contamination of the environment. One needs only to look at the increasingly high rate of homosexual activity on the Gulf Coast after the post WWII industrialization, where ninety per cent of the nation's chemical are manufactured. The effects of this pollution on fetal development in the womb, especially from plastics, has very likely contributed to the marked increase in homosexual activity in both sexes in the third and fourth generations of the affected population.

I'm as hetero as they come, but I have 4 piercings in my left ear and 2 in my right. I haven't worn anything in them, however, since repentance from my rebellious youth many many years ago.

For me, the piercing had nothing to do with my "preferences", but rather with a desire to stand out and be rebellious. The rings I wore were very small, though, and masculine in nature.

Nowadays, though, the feminine look of more and more young men is disgusting and is reason #41 that we don't own a television.

Although I do not wear any peircings of any type, that is my choice and those that do, it is their choice. Thats what makes our nation unique, we get to make most choices.

I remember in high school, if you wore an earring in your left ear, you were "cool", BUT if you wore one in your right ear you were a homosexual.

I never have (and never will) get an earring....or a tattoo for that matter. There are a number of reasons, but here are a few (in no particular order):
1) I am cheap... I just dont see spending "X" dollars on a piercing
2) like it or not, people form opinions about you by the way you look. Piercings on men, put you in a category...I was talking to my bosses and we were talking about a guy who showed up (dressed nicely), but with HUGE holes in his ears from that thing where they put stuff in their ear lobes to stretch them.....This person, no matter how qualified, would never be hired from what my boss said
3) Tactically, I dont want piercings because they can be ripped out or something in a fight
4) I want to blend in, not stand out...at least for my looks....I dont want trouble with anyone
5) I think a man that "needs" an ear piercing is out to get attention (see #1 and #2)...I am NOT trying to impress anyone...except my wife
6) As I talk to people about my favorite topic, Jesus Christ, I dont want my piercings to be a distraction (see #2)

Sure, there will be exceptions to every thing I stated above, especially #6. As long as folks dont break Lev19:28, I personally dont care if they get piercings and tats and for #6, they will get an opportunity to speak with people because of those things whereas I wouldnt.

Short story long, I dont think men should have piercings/tattoos, they do have a stigma attached (like it or not), I wont ever get them, but as long as Lev 19:28 is honored, I could care less one way or the other.

I have never been a fan of piercings but to each his own.

However, I do believe that people judge you heavily based upon how you look. Thats why I started the "Man Bag" thead. I really had to carry some gear with me and absolutely refuse to carry anything that looks like a purse.

I am me regardless of where I am or what I wear. I just want people to know who I am without spending a good deal of time talking to me and having to reverse any predetermined conclusions they might have about me.
