Nonviolent conflict resolution?

Anyone know of some good resources on nonviolent conflict resolution? Everything I've been able to find so far is of the pansy, UN-approved, give-the-bully-what-he-wants, appeasement variety.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but "nonviolent conflict resolution" is a really broad topic. It could include:
*employer HR tactics designed to manipulate an employee's behavior
*ego-state (adult-parent-child) theory of interpersonal communication, such as what I saw as part of my CHL training
*verbal judo, neurolinguistic programming
*unknown contact management

Perhaps Marc "Animal" MacYoung's Violence, Blunders and Fractured Jaws may cover the angle you seek. I believe Geoff Thompson (a doorman in the UK) may also treat this subject.

Good luck.

The Concealed Handgun Manual by Chris Bird has a chapter on non-violent conflict resolution. That chapter is a bit sketchy, but the book is worth reading overall.

It looks like you have discovered an underserved market.

Texas DPS teaches a course on this subject to their troopers. Some of this material was used in my CHL course. If you know someone it might be possible to obtain some of their training materials.

Yerasimos' post has some good suggestions: Marc "Animal" MacYoung's book looks like a good start. While the normal "HR fluff" may not be exactly what you want, some of the same approachs and techniques could be valuable for de-escalating a potentially violent encounter.

I think a practical course that does some role playing excerises would be way to go. This link might be helpful: http://www.twu.edu/o-ll/mediationfaq.htm
