Flint, you owe me a keyboard! The mental image of a person trying to hug a wild possum is too funny!flintknapper wrote:He's probably misunderstood....and just "needs a hug".sskimber wrote:I bet not very friendly in an understatement.

Yeah, somehow I see it involving "stitches".

Re: Is anybody missing a cat
I emailed the "cat" poster to my wife at work. Here's what she emailed back.
"Don't laugh!!!
What you see in the photo is the rare feline arboreal marsupial species
"felinimous opossimous. It has been deliberately hybridized for ill
temper and nasty teeth. The "feloposs" (its common name), has been seen
flying over houses, landing in trash cans and most commonly under the
wheels of passing vehicles. Although the "feloposs" hates Tidy Cat, you
never have to worry about its urinary tract...
Cheers!"
I Still think it's funny!

Re: Is anybody missing a cat
We have a friend who lives out in the middle of West Texas. He told us about finding a possum in a pantry or closet. Who knows how it got in the house and I don't know what he was thinking (I would have probably tried to "shooo" it out with a broom or something) - instead, he decided to try to pick it up by it's tail to get it out...
I couldn't believe a country boy (AND HE WAS) -- didn't know any better! The little guy wasn't aggressive till he tried to pick it up. Well, the next thing he mentioned was something about beady little eyes, lots of teeth, lots of scratching, hissing and ended it with a 10mm... I don't know how many times he shot the poor thing.
I felt sorry for the poor little possum.

Well, if he was a country boy, then, at least, there shoulda been some possum stew for his trouble.

I use to live by a creek in town and would let my chocolate lab out to do her thing at night, one night she came running back and it was kinda dark but her gait was funny,as she got closer i could tell she had something in her mouth,so i'm like asking er "lucky"whatya got and about that time i see what she got and i'm yelling drop it drop it ,It's a possum that is playing dead and about to become alive ,i grab her collar and she drops it and it's stil playing dead,so i take her in and about 5 minutes later look and the "dead" possum is gone. She repeated this a couple more times, that's the downside to owning a retriever sometimes ya don't know what they are retrieving

Re: Is anybody missing a cat
Funny this was here this morning.
I had a fight with my Golden, my 3 legged lab/pit mix,my little 14lb. mix breed, and the possum they had pinned between a telephone pole and my fence. Keep in mind that we had a bad storm blow through earlier in the morning.
As I would pull 1 of the dogs away another would take its place. All of us sliding in the mud (had to change clothes again before going to work).
The little one got a mouth full of possum tail and he came out over the top of the 2 big dogs and hit me about thigh high and grabbed hold. Then he realized I wasn't a tree and the race was on. After a 25 minute fight, I finally got the dogs in, leg bandaged and clothes changed. The dogs all sat at the back door so proud. Rather comical now that I look back.
