So, the city, which was already short of officers, offered older officers $200,000 to retire. Now the city has to pay double the normal salary to get officers to work overtime to fill minimum staffing. They have no idea what this will cost, or how long it will take to fill the vacancies. They’re also claiming this will save money in the long run. We'll have to wait and see if the taxpayers buy that version of new math. Meantime they'll just have to live with fewer cops in parks and other areas because the city leaders have discovered that "there are a lot of neighborhoods to cover."

Meanwhile, criminal enterprises are relocating and expanding in Columbus OH, due to the more favorable business environment.
