They asked for volunteers last time the convention was in Houston. I helped in registration and in the store. Are they looking for help this time?

Man; been a while since it was in Houston. When was that? I had to go look it up. Last two times the meeting was here were 2013 and 2005. There was a lot of conversation both times about whether not concealed carry was going to be allowed in the convention center and the convention hotel(s).
And I didn't realize it, but this is the 150th anniversary meeting! Woo hoo! https://www.nraam.org/

Concealed carry was indeed allowed in 2013. In fact, I have pictures (somewhere) showing that the attached hotel downtown (can't remember if it's a Hyatt or a Hilton) had covered up their normally prominent 30.06 signs.
I had some choice thoughts about that at the time, and still do, but I suspect the revenue from the NRA convention will trump any anti-gun sentiment held by the hotel -- at least for a few days.
George R. Brown is city-owned property, and as such a 30.06 isn't truly enforceable.

Always couple hundred (at least) volunteers needed. I'll be there as firearms inspector.
My wife just informed me that the convention was over Labor Day weekend. I am really bummed out because we always go to our lake house with the entire family over Labor Day.
