Last night's Oscars was a complete debacle - as 13.75 million fewer viewers watched vs. last year, a decline of 58.3%.

The numbers show a 78% decline in viewers since 2014... and that's with a growing US population.

America doesn't want to hear it anymore.

And a classic from Gervais:

I don't watch because I don't want to hear their views on politics.

The Oscars have become an exercise in the insipid. It is a group of self=aggrandizing 1 percenters, patting themselves on the back over their work that no one saw. Most of the nominees for awards have very little market penetration. They produce enough other films that do make money but are 3rd rate to pay for their artistic excesses. The political "wokeness" was just the icing on an already stale cake.

Have been on my list for some years of "I'd rather watch bugs swarm around my patio light than watch this on television."

Based on the above numbers

In 2014, 13.8% of the population watched the Oscars.

In 2021 it was 3%.

I wonder how many of those who watched it were in prison or otherwise had little choice of what to watch? LOL

Were there any movies in 2020?

James Bond and Topgun were postponed.

My understanding that they specially changed the order so that best actor was last. This was so they could devote extra time to the assumed winner, the actor who died. But, he didn’t win and the actual winner, an old white guy, Anthony Hopkins didn’t show.

When I heard on the news, it brought a smile to my face. There are some old conservative actors who still vote.

The winner of best picture, Nomadland, made 2.3 million at the box office. Now that should tell you everything you need to know. The best picture that nobody saw!

Unlike Jeffrey Epstein, the Oscars did kill themselves.
