I’ve read that the SWAT caller used some kind of artificial voice to make the call. The calls usually mention dangerous events shots fired heavily armed and hostages, so that a full SWAT response is ordered. Not sure how many SWATting victims have died. I am only remember one, but there could be others. I may be wrong, but I think using IP telephony to spoof phone numbers--at least in some form--is still able to go undetected/untraceable. That's the way I still get calls every other day about "your car's service warranty" is expiring. Moreover, checking Spokeo shows me that most of the spam calls that look like they're local are spoofing actual, valid phone numbers. surely they can trace the point of the call and go after the fake reporters. thats some serious stuff
